Having Hip Pain. What Would Be The Cure?

i have been having hip pain for 5 yrs or more yesterday i saw an orthopedic surgeon he said he wont do a hip replace ment he thinks it not my hip but a pinched nerve he called it the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve being pinched.n pain what would be the cure do i have to walk with a limp in pain the rest of my life
