Having Strong Pain In Joints, Ankles, Knee, Elbow And Shoulders. Taken Advil. What Can This Be?
My husband this afternoon started having a sudden strong pain in most of his joints. Ankles, wrists, knees, elbows, shoulders. No fever, no symptoms of flu. No headache. Just the strong joint pain that he has ever experience before. He has taken Advil, but its not getting any better. Could you give us some sort of an idea what this could be?? He is 63 years old. He is a 20 year Chron's patient. Thank you......Should we go to the ER???
I suspect that the sudden development of joint pains could be attributed to acute exacerbation or Crohn's disease (as exacerbation followed by remissions is very typical of Crohn's).
These symptoms need only suppotive treatment in the form of NSAID's, Local corticosteroid injections and physiotherapy. There are many trials that support the use of sulfasalazine to tackle these extra intestinal manifestations of crohns.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day

Having Strong Pain In Joints, Ankles, Knee, Elbow And Shoulders. Taken Advil. What Can This Be?
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic Since the symptoms just started, it is possible that any additional symptoms are not present as yet. It could represent an early viral illness. It could also be related to the crohn s disease. Joint pain can occur in this condition. Since he is not responding to the medication given and the pain is severe, he should consider visiting the ER for assessment and pain management. I hope this helps
