Having Trouble Popping The Hernia Back In, Popping Noise Heard When I Do So. Causes ?

HI, I am a 33 year old woman with an umbilical hernia. I have had it since the birth of twins 3 years ago. Currently on waiting list for operation. Today I am having trouble popping the hernia back in and having it stay there! What is concerning me though is the audible "popping" noise I can hear when I push on it! It is not really any more painfull than usual but this sound is making me feel sick!!!! What do u think could be causing this?????
