Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Head Injury. Used Ice. Lump Still There. Why Discomfort?
Got punched/shoved in the head by an idiot two-weeks ago. I ve applied ice to easy the lump on the side of my head after three days; head was fine but but I feel a numbness on that same side. Is the area of my head not fully healed? Is that why there s some minor discomfort? No nausea; no other head problems. my email address is YYYY@YYYY
I hope you applied the ice correctly. If you apply ice on the affected side directly, it might cause numbness. Ice has to be wrapped in a cloth and applied on the affected site intermittently. Direct application of ice might have caused the numbness.
If the absence of headache, vomiting, blurring of vision, loss of conciousness, please feel reassured that there is no major problem. However, if any of these symptoms are present , please visit the doctor immediately.
Hope this helps
Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
