Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 15 year old daughter has been sick for 2 days. I started out with a headache , sore throat , and dizziness . Next, she developed a low grade temperature, around 100 degrees with chills. Today, her fever is up to 103.2 and she s complaining of leg pain saying that it hurts to walk. She hasn t had any medicine, other than a couple of cough drops.
The history is very typical of viral infection. High grade fever with chills associated with myalgia and arthralgia. Symptomatic treatment should be provided. Pain during walking is more in favour of Chikungunya fever. To confirm do a serology test. If chikungunya fever is confirmed than addition of steroid will help in symptomatic relief.
