Headaches On Right Side Of Head. MRI Scan Came Normal. Underlying Cause?

Ive been having headaches on right side of my head, they start behind & over my eye. Went to eye doc cause i thought it was strain on my eye. They thought it was sinus. took antibiotics, nothing happened. Took MRI . Neuro put me on steroids for 5 days but ive had no relief. I found that if i take advil & lay down a few minutes it goes away. But it always comes back late afternoon.

Hello there!
i went through your query. If MR scans are clear and opthalmologists have ruled out occular strains i believe on psychiatric issues and possibility of migraines is left

Here are the triggers for migranous headaches to be avoided in order to remain headache free

Alcohol - Particularly wine and beer
Caffeine overuse or caffeine withdrawal
Chocolate
Aspartame - eg, NutraSweet and Equal
Monosodium glutamate (MSG) - May be found in Asian food, canned soup, frozen or processed foods, and the seasoning product Accent
Fruits - Citrus fruits, bananas, avocados, and dried fruit
Nuts - Peanuts, soy nuts, and soy sauce
Tyramine, a biogenic amine that accumulates in food as it ages, may provoke migraine. Sources include the following:

Dairy - Aged cheese
Meat - Bacon, sausage, luncheon meat, deli meat, pepperoni, and smoked or cured meat
Pickled foods
Heavily yeasted breads - Eg, sourdough
Vinegars - Especially wine vinegar
Some types of beans

Take some acetaminophen and prochlorperazine for two days in a week for 4 weeks. use isolation and seclusion in dark with calmer surrounding to relieve the symptoms.

If symptoms persist see the psychiatrist for boosting to 5HT antagonists like sumatriptans.

Hope my effort was fruit ful.

take care
Regards
Dr S Khan
