Heart Attack. Blood Test Showed High Creatinine Level. Help?
my husband had a heart attack at the age of 53 feb 3rd, just went in for fasting blood test to check on his cholestrol, his creatine kinase test came back elevated to 1083, I am just very concerned. he e-mailed his doctor, but i am just curious if it should be still so elevated, He had a 90% blockage and had a stint put it, any good word so I can sleep lol
Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
Your husband has suffered from acute M.I., it is good that he was treated with Angioplasty and stent placement.
creatinine kinase is high which is due to muscle injury, rhabdomyolysis, , myositis, due to many other causes. In MI we check MB fraction .
In your case if he is taking Statin for Lipid abnormality this can cause rise in creatinine kinase level, due to rhabdomyolysis.
You should consult your treating Physician and if necessary statin may have to be stopped and some other agent may be given.
Please take care
Good Luck
