Heavy Menstrual Flow, Cramps, Inability To Sleep, Sickness. What Is The Cause?
Hi I'm 16 and well...I've never really had trouble with my period other than a heavy flow. Now my cramps are excrushiating for the first time. I can't use the restroom without it hurting. I'm not even going to school today. I've tried everything on the Internet and everything I know to do and nothing has worked. I can't sleep, eat, or even move without feeling extremely sick. This is the worst cycle I've ever had. Why so sudden? I also have dark red clumps of blood and I have no clue about that either. What are they?
Hello Thanks for your query. Excruciating menstrual pain, to the extent that normal activities get incapacitated, is termed as dysmenorrhoea. Primary dysmenorrhoea is when there is no real reason present in the uterus and ovaries for such pain. It is due to excessive secretion of pain causing substances during periods. This type of dysmenorrhoea is more common during extremes of reproductive age, such as in your case. You can try painkillers and antispasmodics, as well as a hot water bottle to ease the pain. If the pain is unrelenting, you must visit the ER for injectable painkillers. secondary dysmenorrhoea is due to ovarian cysts, tumours etc, and needs a visit to a gynecologist to be ruled out. Take care.
