Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I have been using generic Xanax - 1 mg about an hour before bedtime - for almost twenty years now. I have not developed any form intolerance to this drug and have not needed to increase the dosage since I started around 1988. I use the drug for sleep with no side effects the next day. I am aware of the side effects such a balance and memory. My Bell's Palsy (each side) taught that it compromised my balance and I started a policy to be more aware and do thing like always hold the railing on stairs. I work in civil engineering and if memory was issue I would very soon be out of a job. My life is different then twenty years ago, hiv did not get me and I have been treated for early stage prostrate. My new doctor is very green, thinks I should not be using this drug at all. I just turned 65 and want to stop using this drug when I retire in 8 months. What do you think of my present use and could you tell how does one reduce a 1 mg daily dose? John McShane
