Hello. I've been taking 10mg of elavil nightly before bed for approximately 5 years now. It was prescribed to me for stomach pains caused at the time by stress brought on by a very abusive work situation. After ruling out other causes with a endoscopy, my doctor prescribed the above medication and dosage as he said in a lower dose it can effect the nerve endings in the stomach. The Elavil worked like a charm! Fast forward 5 years... I am now retired and want to get off the drug. I tried cold turkey but had bad withdrawl effects and went back on it. I'd really like to try again to wean myself off and need to know the best way to do this. I am 60 years old, in good health. Please give me some advice. Thank you for your help.
