Hernia Repair Done, Mesh Inserted. Developed Infection. Can Lymphedema, Cellulitis In Legs Lead To Allergic Reaction?

my mom had a hernia repair about two years ago. The surgeon did insert a mesh during the repair. She developed a pretty serious infection, with drainage which lasted for several months. The doctor says the mesh is not attached on one side, and is reluctant to operate on her again. Mom is wondering if the lymphedema, and cellulitis which she has been suffering with, in her legs, could have anything to do with an allergic reaction she might be having to the mesh?
