Hi Doctor On The Estate We Live Our Animals Some

Hi Doctor on the estate we live our animals some properly vaccinated by the rabies injection one 15 month old male received the rabies injection for the first time 12 days before the infected dog was put down and a puppy of 10 weeks not yet vaccinated for rabies were all in regular contact and played with the young dog probably 8 months old to the extent that the infected dog may have eaten out of the same bowl or chewed on the same bone during the previous couple of day before showing signs of rabies, to me it appears the vaccinated animals are probably going to be okay the 15 year old appears to be at risk as well as the puppy bearing in mind the puppies parents were up to date with their vaccinations, what are the chances of these animals becoming infected here bearing in mind all our animals left the estate 24 hours before the effected dog began to show symptoms and will the rabies vaccine that was administered 12 days before the dog was put down have any effect what so ever or good health of this animal be beneficial ?

A week later after the dog was diagnosed with rabies we have all began with PEP the 5 injection program if one of our animals have become infected in some way what risk are we as a family in at this point and if the infected animal that has been put down happened to lick one of the family members any were on the body including across the mouth before showing signs of rabies, what are the chances of one of us becoming infected bearing in mind we all only started with PEP a week after the animal was put down, one of the family members happened to lifted the dogs lips to check for billiary while the dog was showing symptoms or some how the dogs saliva was transferred onto a hand or another part of the body while showing signs of rabies unknown to anyone at the time, again what is the probability of one of us getting rabies and how long before PEP has worked its way into the blood steam ?

Am told at no time did the animal become aggressive and want to bite anyone but was very anxious and in a lot of pain around the head area.

at this point we are being care full about any of the animals licking any of us and are being confined to our property and this point and not exposing the 15 month male and pup to any one but the family.

Regards
Craig
