Hi, I have a tear right above my ankle and was prescribed sulfamethoxazole-temp ds tablet for this as it has become infected. I am 72 and my skin is tearing easily with little effort. I was given 10 tablets (1 tablet 2x a day). My leg looks better but is still red around the outlining area. Does this medication continue to work after I have finished it or should I call my Dr. and have him refill it? Any additional recommendations? I was thinking of soaking in very warm Epsom salts. I have been applying polysporen. Thank you!
