Hi I Was Prescribed Gabapentin As I Was Coming Off

Hi I was prescribed gabapentin as I was coming off methadone and zanax. The dr switched me from the meth to suboxone. I was still struggling with the zanax so as an alternative over a three month period he kept upping the dosage. I am on 3_ 600mg tabs inthe morn and three at nite the max dosage per day. Is this safe? And how and when should I ween off this.
