Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi My son was diagnosed with strep throat 2 days ago. We only found out because I took him to his pediatrician to check on a scrapped knee that looked infected (it was not) but wasn't healing after almost 3 weeks. He then complained about a sore throat while in the office. Soon enough he tested positive for strep. Other than a a very mild sore throat he only complained about itching ears and no other symptoms. His doc prescribed amoxicillin every 12 hours. After the 3rd dose he started to developed itchy eyes and limbs every time he ate anything (he does have a food allergy to walnuts only). Called his doctor and he told me to stop with the antibiotics and give my so.ln Benadryl. . He then prescribed Azithromycin. First dose will be tomorrow. My son still have itchy eyes, ears and limbs every now and then. He says it happens for one minute (he takes his clothes off when it happens) and then it goes away. He is 8 years old. Am I missing something here? Never experienced anything like it before. It's the first time he has step too.
