Hi, my son is 9.5 months old and is having frequent stools. Stools sometimes also have mucus. He first had 20 WBC in his stool and so we did an antibiotic course. He was fine after that, infact a bit constipated. After a week he again started having frequent and mucusy stools and we repeated the tests. WBC count was 04 but reducing substance was positive so we moved to lactose free milk but he's still breastfeeding (we have removed dairy products from the mothers diet). He then became all fine for a week, infact again a bit constipated. But soon after that he again started having mucus stools and so we repeated the tests again. This time WBC was 08 and reducing substance was negative and so was fat globules.
I am really worried since my 9.5 month baby is already very small. Weighs only 6.7 kgs and is not gaining weight since 1 month and has mild hypotonia.
I feed him iron-fortified cereal, mangoes, bananas, peaches, green beans, sweet potatoes , peas, chicken. He also sometimes eats finger food from Gerber.
Please suggest.
