High BP, Fluctuating Pulse Rate. Normal After Taking Telday, Tenormin, Reduced Dosage. Should I Continue?

I am 53 years and was suffering from high BP 160/95 and sudden rise and fall in pulse rate (range 66 to 90 bpm).I started taking Telday 80 and Tenormin 50 since last two years. My BP has come down to 120/80 or so and my pulse has reduced to 56 bpm. For last one month I have reduced the dosage of Tenormin 50 to Tenormin 25. My pulse in rest still remains below 60 average 54 to 58.Am I on the right track please advice
Thanks

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Since , you are taking telmisatan and atormin ( tenormin ) and reduces the dose of tenormin.
Still pulse is 54 / minute , so in my opinion consult a physician and get his opinion.
As E C HO is very important as this may be a case of heart or congestive failure ( heart).
Good luck.

Hi,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic,
You are having High blood pressure and taking treatment regularly. I am happy to know your blood pressure is controlled and heart rate is also 60BPM.
If blood pressure is well controlled then certainly treatment must continue, reduction in dosage can be done by your physician with proper monitoring.
Please do not reduce dose by yourself as it can lead to rebound high blood pressure.
Please visit your Physician for proper prescription. You should also take care of diet that is less salt Treatment usually continues lifelong.
Take care.
Good Luck.
Dr.Akhilesh Dubey M.D
