High Blood Pressure. Taking Losartan, Bystolic, Terazosin. Any Suggestions?
My blood pressure is high although I take losartan/hctz 100/25mg., bystolic 5mg., and terazosin 20 mg. daily. Ialso take lovastatin 40 mg., levothyroxine .088mg, aleve 220mg., aspirin 81mg. My bp can run over 150/90 quite often. I exercise three or more times a week. I am a76 yr, old male. Do yu have any suggestions for lowering my bp?

Some hypertensives are referred to as resistant, that is the blood pressure is not controlled on 3 or more medications. Some persons may appear resistant but the high readings may be due to problems such as small cuff when checking the blood pressure, white coat hypertension (blood pressure goes up in doctor's office) , problems taking medication.
Normally when a person is assessed as having true resistant hypertension then the following can be done: (1) your doctor may consider increasing the dosage of the medication to the maximum dosage provided you do not have any problems with that (2) consider switching one of the three from morning to bedtime (3) adding additional medication
