High Blood Pressure In The Hospital. Normal When Relaxed. Cause?
hello doc, my question is this , whenever i go to the hospital and have a medical checkup,my blood pressure is very high(180/104) i know that iam very nervous and have an anxiety whenever the nurse or the doctor is taking my B.P..but when i check it outside it decreases significantly(134/85).. I regularly monitor my bp and i only got high bp readings during exercise 150-160/110-105.My b.p is low before i sleep 118-125/69-77..Why is it that only in the hospital that i get high b.p readings..
There is an entity - White Coat Hypertension...BP is high as seen my the doctor / normal elsewhere. It is generally due to Anxiety - out pouring adrenal hormones raising the pressure...
It is wiser to confirm this - by Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring...discuss with your doctor..
[There are some less common causes of episodic hypertension like Pheochromocytoma... may have to be ruled out, if BP is high at other situations too...]
Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
