High Heart Rate, Sweaty Palms, Ringing In Ears. What Is Wrong? High BP?
Hi. Trying to get off to sleep last night and suddenly my heart rate goes up i get ringing in my ears and sweaty palms. I had to sit up rather than lay down, and the rapid heart rate would come and go in waves. This has happened before but not to this degree. Is it high blood pressure symptoms, and what do i need to do?
You need investigation.
Anaemia / Anxiety / Alcohol / Tobacco (smoking) / Caffeine (too much coffee, cola) / Thyroid / Medicines like Phenylephrine, used for ‘cold’ / Salbutamol, used for asthma / Illicit ‘drugs’ like Amphetamine are notorious to cause the beats.... At times, abnormal nerve paths in the heart (bypass tracts) are responsible!
EKG / HOLTER (24 to 48 hour ambulatory monitoring) / ECHOcardiogram / TMT (Treadmill exercise ECG) / LABORATORY work-up – may all be necessary for further assessment and assistance.
You must see a doctor. The treating doctor may suggest them depending on need, based on his assessment of the situation.
Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
