High Levels Of TSH, Cholesterol And Triglycerides. Medication?

Dr Sahib, In the last one and a half year my TSH blood tests report have shown high levels around 6 uIU/ML. I was not put on any medicine though. I am 59 years old, non smokers, tea totaller, non obeses male. Simultaneously my cholesterol has gone up to 223 with Triglycerides on 192. Please advise if these two are inter linked or do I need to take medication for Thyriod alone. Rgds Vinod

Hi Vinod,
Thanks for writing your query.

As per the reports mentioned by you, although you have raised levels of cholesterol, triglycerides and TSH, you donot need urgent medication at this stage as the levels are slightly above the normal range.

My advice to you would be that you should take care of you diet and lifestyle :-
Avoid sedentry habits.
Do regular exercise.
Avoid oily foods.

You can take preparation of Omega-3 fatty acids, one capsule twice a day for three months, as they will help you in your case and they are safer to take.

Cholesterol and thyroid levels can be linked with each other. Taking omega-3 fatty acids will help you both in cholesterol, triglyceride and thyroid levels management.

I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks.
