High Neutrophil, Granulocyte, WBC, Anemia. Advised Bone Marrow Biopsy To Rule Out Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. Chances Of CML?
Hello,
My grandmother had acute myelogenous leukemia and died from it, it was late in life. I have had a high neutrophil count, which occasionally included a high granulocyte count, for more then 24 months and a high WBC ranging from 12 to 17 for the same amount of time, and now I have developed anemia, it's not bad yet though. The doctor stated that I had a left shift and wants to do a bone marrow biopsy to rule out chronic myelogenous leukemia and while we were waiting to schedule that I received the report on the blood smear. The blood smear had high atypical lymphocytes, high "myelo" which I believe to be myelocyte but I could be wrong please correct me if I am, and had a 1+ under "ANISO" and a 1+ for "MICROCY" No idea what those are, could you fill me in? They cannot find any active infection, and while I was involved in a serious trauma, that was after this pattern started. What is the likelihood of CML, and what other possibilities are there? And do I need to make sure any other relevant things are looked at or is this pretty straight forward?

your blood smear is indicating high atypical lymphocytes and high myelocytes that is significant and a Bone Marrow needs to be done.1+ANISOCYTOSIS and 1+ MICROCYTOSIS means mild reduction in size of RBCs and mild variation in size of RBCs that is indicating mild anemia.
Possibility of CML cannot be ruled out.However your TLC is not very high sometimes in infections also there is a shift in left and someatypical lymphocytes can appear.
