High Resting Heart Rate, Fit And Healthy. What Type Of Medical Tests Should Be Done?
Hi My daughter (17) has a high resting heart rate compared to her other team mates who follow the same training program. I was hoping for advice on the medical tests I should ask for or steps I should take to help her. She eats a healthy balanced diet similar to her training friends and is otherwise very fit and healthy.
It will be helpful if you mention her heart rate. Increase in heart rate has many causes. Some common ones are :- 1. Fever. 2. Anxiety. 3. Sinus tachycardia. 4. Heart rate problems. 5. Excess of alcohol or caffeine. 6. Smoking. 7. High blood pressure. 8. Electrolyte imbalance. 9. Some drugs. 10.Thyroid disorder. 11. Anemia.
It cannot be commented which factor is causing increased heart rate in your daughter's case. She needs investigations.
Some investigations which can be helpful are :- 1. Hemoglobin level. 2. Electrocardiography (ECG). 3. Thyroid Profile. 4. Lipid Profile. 5. Serum electrolytes. 6. Blood pressure monitoring.
I would suggest that get her clinically examined by a physician.
I hope this is helpful to you. Thanks.
