History Of Anorexia. Diagnosed With Mallory Weiss Tear And Barrett's Disease. Trouble Swallowing, Weight Loss
I have had a long history of anorexia and my weight is just above 6st. I had a recent endoscopy that diagnosed me with a Mallory Weiss Tear and Barrett s. 6 biopsies were taken and I m still awaiting the results. In the meantime I m having problems swallowing and have lost weight and am struggling to eat. Is it necessary to have a biopsy to confirm Barrett s or can I assume I definately have the condition?
Hi there, thanks for asking. It is definitely better to wait for the biopsy result, because if the answer is positive (which means a change in the surface of your esophagus), you should take a medication which inhibit secretion of acid to prevent any possibility of cancer formation in your lower esophagus. Management of anorexia needs a combination of talk sessions and a medication like fluoxetine. It can bring for you more pleasure and a good health in your life. If it is left untreated some irreversible consequences may happen. I wish you a good health.
