History Of Blood In Urine. CT Scan Shows Free Fluid In Pelvic Area. Still Have Blood In Urine. Concerned
My son was seen in 09 at the age of 8 for large amounts of blood in his urine. When they did the ct scan they also found free fluid in his pelvic area, which we were never notified of, but did go see a pediatric urologist. She didn't seem too concerned and sent us on our way. Well now it has been 5 years and he still has arge amounts of blood in urine, mostly after activity. Is this related to the pelvic fluid? And should we be concerned?
Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM
Hematuria ( blood in urine) is due to many reasons .
CT Scan and ultrasound can exclude many conditions that leads to hematuria. But certain minor conditions like hereditary and autoimmune causes can’t be detected by these diagnostic methods.
So,these minor causes should also be excluded and need complete workup.
Get well soon.
Take Care
