History Of Slight Slap On Jaw During Fight. No Major Injury. Diagnosed Hit On Ear Leading To Ear Problem. Clarify
good morning!
one of my friends had an altercation with another and during the argument my friend slightly slapped on the jaw of the other person. I witnessed same and it was nothing but a minor slap just to teach that person a lesson. however, this person has got a medical report by getting admitted to a particular hospital mentioning that he has been hit on the ear and the result seems to be that this person had been hit although no ear problem mentioned. how can a doctor diagnose and give a result like that if there is no harm on the ear or what so ever?
even a small slap sometime cause puncture of drum and oedema and we can see by condition on the drum that ear is hit and this is due to air pressure difference even with small slap
Any doctor can record the patient's version of the history but it does not have much significance medicolegally. But while examination, he has to point out any significant clinical findings related to trauma, eg. eardrum perforation, any bruise or laceration, any haematoma/ swelling. Preferably this has to be documented by some investigations. If there is no significant clinical finding then the doctor can not give any specific report...

History Of Slight Slap On Jaw During Fight. No Major Injury. Diagnosed Hit On Ear Leading To Ear Problem. Clarify
Hello, Thanks for writing to us. I have read your concern. Even if there is no damage visibly outside the ear, chances of damage to ear drum is very high. In such cases, dislocation of jaws can also occur. Complete course of medicines has to be administered. Your doctor may have given diagnosis to get a thorough evaluation done to rule out chances of occurrence of any inflammation or fracture underlying. Hope this helps.
