hello..shantha14
dr.sagar here
as ur kid had nose bleeding...it is an emergency...
many things have to be ruled out like internal bleeding...haematoma...kid may go to sudden nerve paralysis if there is haematoma compressing brain structure or nerve....haematoma must be drained...watch for bleeding through ears...it is also one of warning sign...
plz consult ur nearby emergency doctor he/she may rule out above possibilities by ctscan/mri...
as he still 4yrs old,lot of development yet to occur, all anatomical and physiological dysfunction must be ruled out as early as possible...not now...later in adult life he/she may develop neurological signs/symptoms even disease due to neurological involvement due to this injury....
ur kid has a bright future, plz take care of him....:)

General Surgeon Dr. Grzegorz Stanko's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Bleeding from nose or from the wound does not indicate internal bleeding. However it does not rule it out either. That is why it is always better to visit a doctor after any head trauma. Especially if it is about a kid.
Symptoms which can indicate internal bleeding are: nausea, vomiting, sleepiness, blurred vision, headaches. However, lack of this symptoms does not rule bleeding out. Some bleeding can give symptoms even 2 weeks after the trauma.

So I suggest you to visit your doctor and have your son condition checked. Neurologist examination should be performed and head CT in case of any doubts.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
