Hit The Back Of Head, Have Slight Headaches, Stiffness In Neck. Is It Just Minor Concussion ?

So 2 days ago i fell and hit the back of my head on the concrete, i have a bump where it hit but it has been going down. The only symptoms i have are slight head aches and a slight stiffness in the neck. Do you think it's just a minor concussion and I'll be alright? I've been active ever since and it hasn't really been troubling me. The bump is on the middle back of my head near the top...thanks

Hello,

Head injury of this nature can inflict some serious damage to the brain, skull, cervical vertebras and the neck muscles.

Presence of neck stiffness and headache is indicative of some damage to the structures.

it may be minor or major.

it is best to get evaluated if the symptoms persists.

You may need

1. X ray of the skull and CS

2. CT scan or MRI of the brain

3. Neurology consultation.

Hi Good morning , Thanks for writing to HCM.
You mentioned you have developed small bump and it is reducing in size, it is Hematoma, it will decrease by time .If you have continuous vomitings , Fits/ seizures , Loss of conciousness, Ear , Nose , Mouth bleeding you need CT SCAN Brain . but you have slight head ache and neck stiffness , its better you consult NEUROSURGEON if needed get x ray neck / cervical spine .
