Hit Toe, Now Painful. Hurts To Put The Shoe. Now Toe Is Swollen. Knee Is Hurting. Treatment?

I hit my small toe three weeks ago, It was very painful for the first few days and now it hurts when I put a shoe on. After I have worn the shoe for a period the pain eases, however the toe is swollen. At night in bed the knee hurt. I am not sure if that is because I am placing less weight on my foot and more on my Knee??/

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

You need X-ray of small toe in AP/Oblique view to exclude any fracture.
Treatment depends upon findings of X-rays.
Your knee pain may be due to unaccustomed walk that you acquire due to pain in small toe.
You can take analgesics with anti-inflammatory tablets for 5-7 days.
Strapping of small toe can be done to reduce mobility.
Get well soon.

Take care
