Hollow Sound While Tapping The Forehead. Suffered Mastoid Explorosis. Had Surgery. Are These Related?
HI, I have a weird hollow sound when I tap my forehead and am fairly sure it is ear realated as I had mastoid explorosis many years ago due to lack of a middle ear in my left ear but the operation couldn't be completed as my brain is located lower down in my skull where I was having the holes drilled. I hear this hollow sound when I bite hard to and it seems to go away if I pinch my nose and inhale through it as I feel something draw back in my ear - this is my right ear not the one I had surgery on.
Hello, the sound may be most probably due to poor ventilation of middle ear . This occurs as the eustachain tube present behind the nose and connected to the middle part of ear gets closed and not able to open when there is pressure difference . I hope you do not have allergic nose or with nasal obstruction. , if it is so then you need to treat it first as recurrent infections will not allow the tube to work. You must go for walk daily in the morning so that natural decongestant adrenaline will be secreted in the body and which will keep the tube open. take care of reflux , ie acidity. Take care of these things and report back after 10 days.
