What Causes Bumps On Either Side Of The Neck Near The Mastoid Process?

My girlfriend has two small bumps, one on either side of her neck, right about the base of her skull by the mastoid. They just popped up a couple of days ago and she says they are extremely painful to the touch. She hasnt scheduled an appointment yet, and while I know you can't make a diagnosis over the internet, I was just wondering what is in that area. Does it sound like anything you may have seen before?

dear friend , It might be lymph node enlargment due to some infection or dandruff of scalp , you need to take antibiotics etc. for it. nothing much to worry.
