Hello,
Its presentation is usually not harmful and causes mainly rough and follicular or toad skin of course carbuncles may occur but not that frequent.
Boil over buttock is so agonising and is to be treated on an urgent basis in order to prevent complications like abscess formation, fistula etc.the recommended guidelines of treatment are as follows :
1) Usually, medical treatment is tried first with a warm sitz bath, antibiotics, pain and inflammation reducing medication.
2) Tab.
acetaminophen and tab.trypsin and
chymotrypsin twice daily along with antibiotics like tab.
amoxicillin with
Clavulanic acid thrice daily for 5 days.
3) Topical application of providing iodine cream and
Clindamycin cream is recommended.
4) As your symptoms have been for a week now, I feel you need a drainage of the boil.
Please do consult a surgeon as early as possible and get it drained. After drainage, the above-mentioned medications can be used.
It's not good to neglect any more as it may spread to other areas and may even lead to sepsis.hope my answer clears your doubts.any further queries are always welcome and the response would be prompt.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
