My son 36, was diagnosed with shingles and a bacterial infection. It s on his his head face and neck. He was given Percocet, which he couldn t keep down, then was given something for nausea, and since the Percocet has stayed down his rash is getting worse. Could he be allergic to the Percocet?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Percocet is an opioid preparation used to control severe pain associated with shingles. Worsening of rash due to Percocet is unlikely. I suggest you consult your treating doctor for a clinical assessment of the rash for the cause of worsening of the rash.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
