Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been excercising for 8 months now and no longer eat red meats. Plenty of fish and low fat chicken. Plenty of veggies and fruits. I am trying to get my HDL levels above 35 which they have been running for quite some years. I do 60 minutes of cardio every day. I have lost 55 lbs and recently had my cholesterol levels checked. My LDL is down from 116 to 77. My HDL has gone down from 38 to 33. My triglycerides are down from 140 to 57. I really expected my HDL to increase. What else can I do to raise my HDL level. They keep telling me it s too low.
Add coconut oil in your diet. Take 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of coconut oil per day may increase HDLcholesterol levels. If you are a smoker stop smoking. HDL cholesterol levels are usually fixed by your genetics, but we can try.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr C.ELANCHEZHIAN, General & Family Physician
