Greetings from Healthcare magic members,
I have understood your query and concern. Treatment of H. Pylori infection consists of several drugs in different combinations which include two different antibiotics, together with another drug that reduces stomach acid production ( i.e
amoxicillin, metranidazole,
clarithromycin, ranitidine bismuth citrate,
bismuth subsalicylate, or a
proton pump inhibitor). The treatment regimen has to be continued for a period of 10 to 14 days.
Therefore, before jumping into the conclusion I would recommend you to complete the course of treatment and do not leave it in the middle. The major reason of treatment failure is patient non compliance i.e. failure to take the complete course of medications. Also, avoid spicy and fatty food items, alcohol and smoking that may interfere with healing of peptic ulcers and worsen the condition.
If symptoms persist even after the completion of course, discuss with your GI specialist. Sometimes, the H.Pylori strains develop
antibiotic resistance and then you may require another combination of drugs to eradicate it.
Hope this answers your question. If you have any further questions, do no hesitate to ask me.
Regards,
Dr. Khoja
