Hi,
You are having difficulty in losing weight. It does sound like you have been trying hard for a long time. In terms of your mood (because our emotional and mental health affects everything, including weight loss), it would be best to consider seeing a counselor,
psychologist or
psychiatrist.
Any qualified mental healthy person that you are comfortable talking to, to help you work through these negative thoughts and also through the eating issues that seem to have arisen in your quest to lose weight. These negative thoughts definitely need addressing as soon as you can and the eating issues may be affecting your weight loss journey.
In terms of weight loss, this can be a battle and you may need to arm yourself with a nutritionist and exercise specialist to help you. Fad diets can sometimes cause
rapid weight loss but because it can be extreme, weight can be regained quickly In addition to diet changes with the advice of a nutritionist, you may need blood tests to make sure that there are no
hormonal reasons affecting your weight eg
thyroid hormone or
cortisol.
Medication is also available to help you lose weight, there are some that are not as expensive as the newer ones that may be helpful for you. So in sum- it would be best to consider speaking to someone to get help with mental and emotional issues that may be having a negative life impact. Consider a nutritionist and trainer. Consider blood tests for further assessment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson, General & Family Physician
