Hi doctor, i am 29 years and i have pcos. Height 4 10 weight 51.Doctor prescribed ben- force metforim and diviry tablet for 10 days for getting my period every month. Is it safe using diviry tablet every month for getting my period? Will diviry tablet prevents getting pregnant? Will i get pregnant with pcos? What are treatments for pcos? What are the best tablets for treating pcos? Please suggest me.
Hello, Thanks for the query. As you are aware PCOS causes menstrual irregularity. So to regulate and help get menstrual periods Deviry tablets are prescribed. Taking them every month does help in getting period. However, since it contains progesterone, there is prevention of ovulation and it promotes thickening of endometrium and menstruation. It has contraceptive effect. If you are planning for pregnancy, which can be only possible on getting regular ovulatory cycles. Then you will have to stop taking that tablet. Another aspect is that with PCOS in many cases hypothyroidism is also associated. So please check your thyroid assay. If TSH is above even marginally then it needs to be brought down to 2 mU/L for getting conception. Metformin is one of the preferred drugs in treating PCOS. So please continue that. Thanks.
