How Can A Bruise On The Left Cheekbone Be Treated?
Hi, my son is going to be 4 in April. About 7weeks ago he fell and bumped his left cheekbone on the side of his face which caused a huge black eye. The bruising went about a few weeks later but theres a small dent where the bruise used to be which is very noticable especially when he smiles. I am worried this is permanent and woild like to know if this will resolve itself or should I see a doctor /plastic surgeon? Thanks
You have symptoms of a bruise on the left cheekbone which seems to be due to broken zygomatic bone or soft tissue injury. It could be hematoma secondary to any injury. I would suggest you apply an ice pack several times a day. You should consult an oral and maxillofacial surgeon for proper examination. The doctor may order a CT scan or x-ray to confirm the diagnosis. The doctor may drain the hematoma, prescribe anti-inflammatory or may do plating after reduction in case of fracture. You should eat soft or liquid food and keep face and jaw stable.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
