Hi,I am Raju.A.T (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I bruised my the nail on my big toe 2 days ago. It was extremely painful, and the nail instantly turned black and blue. The next day, the bruised color remained, and I continued to ice the toe. The following day, the nail was still bruised but after playing tennis for a few hours, my nail was no longer bruised but white. My toe is still sore though. My athletic trainer on the day my toe was injured said that the bruised nail would last a few weeks or months. Should I be concerned that it changed colors within hours?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Nothing to worry and no treatment is required. Your nail returned to original color indicates it has got good blood supply and healing is faster. You can apply ice packs for symptomatic relief and faster recovery. No other treatment is required.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks.
