How Can A Cat Bite Be Treated?

bitten on hand by a cat last night. Hand started to swell so I went to the clinic and was prescribed amoxicillin/clavulanate. I have one pill in me but I noticed tonight that I m getting reddening in the lymph channel up my arm. Should I be concerned? i.e., seek an antibacterial injection? or let the pills do their work for a couple days?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You consult your doctor again if you are concerned. If it's just swelling then the pills may work. But if there is cellulitis then you may need an antibiotic injection. Also, you need to take tetanus toxoid injection, in case you did not take in the last 6 months. Also, keep a close watch on the at for ten days. If there is any suspicion of rabies or madness in the cat then you need to take rabipur injection (anti-rabies). You cannot take chances with this disease.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
