Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Unfortunately, we have a family member that was bitten by our cat. They were roughhousing which I don t allow. The cat bit him - not very deep on the arm. We went to urgent care, received iv antibiotics and a 10- run of amoxicilin. There is almost no swelling. However, my family member complains of numbness at the bite site and now is talking about numbness in the leg - both on the same side of the body. We are 5 days from the visit to Urgent Care and 6 from the initial bite. We are concerned about the numbness and infection. Thank You, Cat Bite and Worrid

General & Family Physician, Dr. Sameena's Response
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. surely the symptoms which you are saying are not good. As per the protocol the 1 st step is to moniter the cat for 10 day .and also to check the vaccination schedule of the cat whether it was given rabies vaccine.. in addition to these you need to have vaccination of rabies as post exposure prophylaxis once if you get sure the cat is free from rabies no worries.. if there is a positive result you have to worry a little bit.as numbness usually wont persist after antibiotic course.its not a good symptom.itsbeeter you take a vaccination dose
Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best. Regards, Dr.sameena
