Hello doctor...our own dog had bite me on my hand....dot point blood had came....more than 20 days back...but my hand swelled....and my dog had already been given anti rabbies vaccination....and I had taken tetnus the very next day when he bite me....what should I do with the swelling part....and is it still dangerous?? Do I need to take anti rabies vaccine for myself?
Although you can provide first aid for a dog bite at home, it's very important to see a doctor, especially if an unfamiliar dog bit you, the bite is deep, you can't stop the bleeding, or there are any signs of infection (redness, swelling, warmth, pus). Dog bites can cause infections that need to be treated with antibiotics.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Esmeralda Sera,
Oncologist
