General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there! Welcome to HCM!

Its important to know the vaccination status of your dog. And a record of your husband's tetanus immunization status, other medical history and medications, if any, should also be recorded. Continuous irrigation on the affected area may reduce the chances of an infection; but a physician must be shown to. He/ she can prescribe an antibiotic course; can assess the risk factors around the wound and then if needed, may prescribe the rabies vaccine too; depending on the condition of the dog, which needs to be monitored.

Hope this helps!
