How Can A Dog Scratch On The Face Be Treated?

Hi my wife had her face scratched by our new puppy two weeks ago. Since then she has had severe itchiness beneath her left eye and swelling and a bloodshot eye. She has seen three doctor - primary care, urgent care and ER. Each prescribing a different antibiotic and diagnosis except for the ER doctor. ER dr prescribed a shot of Atarax for the itchiness which took the edge off but is now in full mode again. It s driving her crazy. Can you help

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Atarax is an anti-allergic drug. It had given relief after they shot &started showing them symptoms once they effect of drug is over.You need daily dose (as per doctor's suggestion) till then vicious circle of allergens &symptoms break (say for 5-7 days). Antibiotic to be continued as advised.
