How Can A Fracture On The Left Foot Be Treated?

My son thinks he has broken a bone in his left foot. He landed on the left side of the left foot while playing basketball on Saturday. His foot has discolored and bruising is almost black in color over most of the foot and the nurses are trying to tell him that he broke a toe. An x-ray technician confirmed that he broke a bone but the nurses at still saying that his toe is broken. Can you please give me your professional opinion?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

In my opinion, from X-ray of foot can confirm the broken bone. If I were your son's treating doctor, I would require
- Detailed X-ray report regarding
- Is there minor crack or complete
- fracture or dislocation?
- what is the age of patient?
I require this information before concluding to the final diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Suraj Khandhedia
