How Can A Fractured Femur Bone Be Treated?

My husband had a total knee replacement and the doc fractured his femur and was so apologetic about the hammer I m concerned his regular orthopedic retired and this guy took his place. Is this a normal issue. I had a knee replacement and nothing like that happened. It s going to be a longer recovery also.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per the narration, a fractured femur will definitely require intervention depending upon the extent of fracture.

If minor level, can be managed with bed rest, cast support or else. If major level, may need surgery as well.

If you can provide an X-ray in follow up, I can still guide better in this regard please.

Wish you fine recovery and health.

Regards.
