How Can A Fractured Wrist Be Treated?

I broke my wrist yesterday and was given what I think is a low dosage pain med - oxycodone/acetaminophen 5-325 mg 4x/day. I m in a lot of pain and would like to supplement with Tylenol for the next day or 2 until I see an orthopedic doctor. Would that be OK?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

No, this is not alright. Wrist fractures should be treated immediately.

A wrist is very important for fine movements, grip, weight-bearing etcetera. So, any fracture in wrist joint should be treated judiciously.

It is better to consult an orthopedic doctor immediately and get yourself checked. If surgery is needed to fix the fracture, then go for it as soon as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar
