Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can A Hoarse Voice, Developed After Suffering From Pneumonia, Be Treated?
I had pneumonia about a month ago. I was in the hospital for 8 days. Since that time my voice has been extremely hoarse. After four weeks I still have a hoarse voice although it is getting better slowly. I am not sure what to do about this. My breathing is OK. I do have ticklishness in my chest and throat sometimes.
The hoarse voice comes from inflammation of vocal cords and larynx. It needs some time to get healed. A warm tea with honey can help.
Also, the usage of antihistamines such Desloratadine can help reduce inflammation of vocal cords. Try to protect the throat from cold hair and cold beverages.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka,
