Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
have a 6 month old wound on my lt foot, on top. Believe caused by venous insufficiency. I m home and this wound is horribly painful. Have silver sulfadiazine and Santyl which have not helped and I m waiting for treatment at wound care. but my appointment has been put off 1 1/2 weeks due to insurance mess ups (staywell). Primary care doc will not even look at it. Wound is now starting to get bigger.
Hi and welcome to HCM. Thanks for the query.
First, the exact cause should be found and if this is just venous ulcus then treatment may be easy with wound dressing and elastic compresses. However, you should do Doppler u ltrasound to rule out arterial insufficiency and vein thrombosis. If you are diabetic then antibiotic therapy should be started as soon as possible. You sahould take wound swab for mivrobiologic analysis and apply granuflex compresses
I hope I have answered your question.
Wish you good health. Regards
