General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since the piece of glass has been stuck there for a long time, and you have recently developed pain, there is the possibility of infection. Please do not attempt to remove the glass piece by yourself as you pose the risk of introducing additional infections.

You can either follow up with a podiatrist or general surgeon to get the foreign object removed. The doctor may also prescribe antibiotics to treat the infection. Meanwhile, keep the area clean and dry. You may apply mupirocin ointment and gauze dressing to the affected area. You can also take Tylenol for pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal,
